The mission of the Nicetown CDC is to establish comprehensive socio-economic development initiatives for the residents of Nicetown and the surrounding communities. We intend to fulfill our mission with holistic goals and objectives that prioritize establishing safety and security; “re-education” and training; commercial corridor and affordable housing development; and neighborhood park improvement projects.
The Nicetown Community Development Corporation (NTCDC) was organized in 1999 by founding members who collectively bring years of experience in developing the community in a diverse range of areas, ranging from commercial-economic development, social services, entrepreneurship training, to community education and mobilization. Clearly illustrating expertise and success in the area of economic development and construction/property management are their facilities: the NTCDC headquarters, which is housed in a former abandoned warehouse located at 4414 Germantown Avenue. This historic building has been totally redeveloped, and houses Z&Z Distributors, Solutions Banquet Hall, and the NTCDC Corporate Complex. The Nicetown CDC Community Center (4300 Germantown Avenue) was a former abandoned property that was redeveloped by the NTCDC in 2004. This active facility has become the hub of the Nicetown community, and is headquarters for the Nicetown CDC/NAC, Northwest Curfew Center, and the NTCDC Computer Center.
